"Boon Khao Salark" is a meritorious ceremony of making donations to the Buddhist monks by giving them a ticket chosen by chance. This ceremony is usually held in September of the year. To maintain our valuable Buddhist culture, the Ratanaram Buddhist Temple of Rockford, Illinois has arranged this Boon Khao Salark Ceremony on Sunday September 11, 2011 beginning at 10:00 AM.

The end of Buddhist Lend (Auk Phansa) is an important occasion in Buddhist tradition as it is the end of Three-Month Rain Retreat by monks. It is also called "Mahapavarana Day" on which the Buddhist monks make a confession to one another for the purpose of forgiveness and to be careful about their actions in the future. The Ratanaram Buddhist Temple of Rockford, Illinois has arranged this Boun Auk Phansa ceremony on Saturday October 15, 2011 beginning at 10:00 AM.

Kathina simply means offering robes to the monks who have observed the three months Rain Retreat at a certain temple. The Kathina Ceremony must be held within one month from the day of the Rain Retreat is over. This is one of the most important events in the Buddhist calendar for the Buddhist people to cultivate meritorious deeds.  Therefore, the Ratanaram Buddhist Temple has arranged this Kathina Ceremony on Sunday November 6, 2011 as a part of our annual celebration. Those who wish to be sponsorship of this event by making a donation of $ 50.00 may contact the monks at the temple. Hopefully your schedule allows you to participate in this special event.
